Tale 05

A Warrior of Peace

Trickles of wildlife echoed across the ancient temple buried under the Himalayas. Stood parched atop Skanda Fountain was the greatest warrior of peace to have ever lived. Every fraction of his movements were dedicated to restoring harmony between the flows of yin and yang.

A young hawk was flying by when he looked down and noticed a glow emanating from the ground below. Already sensing the source of the glow, the hawk wondered, “This warrior has not wavered from his duty for a single moment and much time has passed, yet, nothing seems to have come from his efforts.”

In that moment the doubtful hawk was zapped to a halt. His feathers raised on edge making way for the wealth of wisdom now pouring into his youthful mind. He looked to the sky and replied, "So you're saying that, true virtue is bestowed, not in the fruit of action, but in creating the seeds of that fruit?"

The warrior, still in his form, gently closed his material eyes sensing that the arrival of a special message was also upon him. A single ray of sunlight beamed down into the temple bringing sparkle to the fountain, placing a crown onto the warrior’s head, telling that the Sky Clock was watching him with joy. The warrior, unmoved, whispered in reply, "Aum shanti, shanti... shanti."
